The initiative groups 43 goals and 217 concrete actions agreed upon together with 18 ministries, aiming at reducing the lethality and vulnerabilities that affect black youth. It also addresses structural racism.<\/p>\n

The Living Black Youth Plan was built in a participatory way by listening to more than six thousand young people over the whole of Brazil through the Living Black Youth Caravan, which was passed by all state capitals in 2023.<\/p>\n

The Plan was presented by the Minister of Racial Equality, Anielle Franco, in association with 10 other Ministries and federal agencies, and includes national programs, titling of quilombola (Afro-Brazilian) territories, exchange scholarships, and cooperation agreements.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe actions of the plan are divided into axes that cover public security and access to justice, job creation, employment and income, education, the democratization of access to culture and science and technology,\u201d as well as the promotion of health and guarantee of the right to the valorization of territories, sports, social assistance, food and nutritional security, and strengthening of democracy, the Ministry of Racial Equality disclosed.<\/p>\n

In November, Lula da Silva signed a new package of racial equality measures and referred to the actions as payment of a historic debt. \u201cWhat we have done is paying a historical debt that white supremacy has built in this country since it was discovered. We only want to recompose what is the reality of a democratic society,\u201d he stated in a ceremony held at the Planalto Palace on National Black Consciousness Day.<\/p>\n
