{"id":9869,"date":"2024-09-14T09:17:11","date_gmt":"2024-09-14T13:17:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radioguantanamo.icrt.cu\/english\/?p=9869"},"modified":"2024-09-14T12:40:10","modified_gmt":"2024-09-14T16:40:10","slug":"ombudsmen-in-cuba-work-for-the-well-being-of-the-vulnerable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radioguantanamo.icrt.cu\/english\/ombudsmen-in-cuba-work-for-the-well-being-of-the-vulnerable\/","title":{"rendered":"Ombudsmen in Cuba work for the well-being of the vulnerable"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9870\" src=\"https:\/\/www.radioguantanamo.icrt.cu\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/cuba-justicia.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.radioguantanamo.icrt.cu\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/cuba-justicia.png 720w, https:\/\/www.radioguantanamo.icrt.cu\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/cuba-justicia-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/>Guantanamo.- The National Directorate of the Ombudsman of Cuba is carrying out multiple actions today to guarantee and restore the exercise of the rights of people in a situation of socio-legal vulnerability.<\/p>\n<p>The First Deputy Minister of Justice, Rosabel Gam\u00f3n, explained in the television program Hacemos Cuba that the Ombudsman is a structure that is part of the Ministry of Justice and has representation in all the provinces of the Caribbean nation.<\/p>\n<p>She explained that the institution has its legal bases in the 2019 Constitution, as well as in the Code of Procedure and the Family Code.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, the director of the Ombudsman&#8217;s Office, Alejandro Redondo, specified that any Cuban jurist can work in the organization, even if he is retired, with the exception of those who work as judges, prosecutors or notaries.<\/p>\n<p>He commented that when a case of various kinds arrives, the Ombudsman&#8217;s Office prepares a multidisciplinary team of doctors, psychologists, sociologists and psychiatrists, among others, who enable the corresponding guidance, orientation and care.<\/p>\n<p>We offer, he added, advice, support and participation in each of the procedures and judicial processes in which the applicant is involved.<\/p>\n<p>Since its creation in 2023, the Ombudsman&#8217;s Office has registered a total of 494 cases throughout the country, according to data released by the Granma newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>The institution acts as a legal resource with special emphasis on the protection of children, the elderly or those in vulnerable situations, as well as victims of manifestations of violence, discriminatory treatment and non-compliance with guarantees.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Guantanamo.- The National Directorate of the Ombudsman of Cuba is carrying out multiple actions today to guarantee and restore the exercise of the rights of people in a situation of socio-legal vulnerability.
