The Guantanamo athlete Yaquelín Estornell loses today in her 66 kilogram fight against the Canadian Sara Kali in the Pre-Olympic Boxing Tournament that took place in Bangkok, Thailand, on the way to Paris, France 2024.
Her followers in Guantánamo recognize the work of this old veteran who with all dedication and discipline represented Cuba, first a few years ago, in the fighting sports and at the moment, in boxing.
Yaquelín, this time you couldn’t make it, however, you are a sports star, an empowered woman who will continue from your position as a Coach, in the training of future generations of athletes.
I see Yaquelín Estornell in the future being Technical Director of the fighting or boxing team in her Guantánamo birthplace or who knows if in the Cuba team in one of these functions.
The experience of this athlete and her actions to become a sport star, she should be rewarded and surely, with that consecration and discipline that characterizes her, she will once again brighten and make people happy with her performance.
Yaquelín, 40 years old, represented Cuba in wrestling in several competitions: She participated in the 2013 World Championship, achieving 13th position. She won a silver medal at the 2015 Pan American Games. She won four medals at the Pan American Championships, gold in 2013. She won the silver medal at the Central American and Caribbea.
