Guantánamo – The workers of the Yayaguán Fishing Zone, located in the Niceto Pérez Municipality, are redoubling their efforts to comply with the plans for the capture of the different species of cyprinids, including tilapia, avedos, tench and catfish.

Alexis Iríbar, Head of Production of the Yayaguán Fishing Base Business Unit, declared that despite delays in contributions during this year, from a plan of 47 tons in the month of July they managed to achieve 65, for 138 percent compliance.

The manager added that this is due to the dedication of the more than 30 fishermen not only in the productive levels but also in the work of the repair and maintenance of the fishing gear, the boats and the infrastructure itself available in the vicinity of La Yaya, the largest reservoir in Guantanamo.

Despite the high temperatures and intense heat, the weather is very favorable for Yayaguán fishing zone to comply with what is agreed with the Food Industry and other destination, which contribute a greater supply of food for the people and the import substitution programs.
