Guantanamo.- Yoel Pérez García, First Secretary of the Party in the province, visited socioeconomic facilities in the municipality of Maisí, including the pumping stations of the Maya and La Vieja aqueducts, where higher-capacity and more efficient electric pumps will be installed to improve the water supply in that area.

During his visit to both facilities, Pérez García confirmed the delays in the construction work prior to the installation of the new pumps, already in Maisí, and urged a redoubling of efforts so that the facilities can begin operating in time for the anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution.

Accompanied by Carlos Raúl Martínez Turro, Vice Governor, and officials from the Party, the Government, and the Maisí agricultural sector, the First Secretary of the Party also toured agricultural areas of the newly created San Juan de Lavadero Production Garden, where he spoke with producer Herminio Rodríguez Matos.

The farmer told the PCC leader the satisfactory results of the first harvests and the planting strategy for the upcoming winter season, which includes crops such as cassava, sweet potato, taro, and yam, traditionally grown in Maisí due to their strong growth.

These properties initially comprise 76 hectares, previously used primarily for coffee cultivation by the Youth Labor Army, and which have been unused since 2016, following the devastation of Hurricane Matthew.

These lands were handed over this year to the Iraelda Marzo Basic Unit of Cooperative Production, a collective that, with sound planting planning and support for the UBEP members, is already seeing positive results, as presented by Marcia Matos Marzo, president of the cooperative.

Previously, Yoel Pérez García had visited a former Youth Labor Army camp, currently being transforming into 14 houses, which should be ended also before the end of the year.
