The young journalist Dairon Martínez Tejeda, president of the Hermanos Saíz Association in the Guantanamo Province, was awarded with the side award from the Casa del Caribe of Santiago de Cuba, within the framework of the 33rd Edition of the Antonio Lloga In Memoriam National Radio Contest, which recently ended.
Moros en la costa (Moors on the Coast) is the title of the award-winning radio documentary, which he made together with journalists Dayana Natacha and Roxana Romero Rodríguez, also from Guantanamo, at the CMKS Radio Station.
The award recognized how radio resources managed to reflect the mark left by the Arabs on the national identity, and especially, the culture of the easternmost province of Cuba.
Dairon competed this year on behalf of the Guantanamo CMKS Provincial Radio Station, selected along with 19 young radio broadcasters, to participate in the theoretical program of the event that began on September 21, and lasted until the 24th.
In total, there were 58 participants from 13 provinces, representing 18 radio stations, three newspapers, two universities and the same number of sociocultural projects present in the 33rd Edition of the National Workshop and Competition of Young Radio Antonio Lloga in memoriam, an event that included an extensive program of conferences, workshops and live broadcasts dedicated to podcasts and radio production for the Internet.
