The March and April downpours are not sufficient for the recovery of Guantanamo´s reservoirs storing only 31.85 percent of their capacity, according to information of the National Institute of Water Resources in the territory.

The 122nd anniversary of José Martí and Máximo Gómez’s landing at Playita de Cajobabo, to join the Necessary War, was commemorated with a cultural and political act held at the monument dedicated to the historic event, which occurred on April 11, 1895.

La Loma del Chivo neighborhood, a cultural center in the city of Guantánamo, hosted Sunday the commemorative activity to mark the 205 anniversary of the murder of the Cuban abolitionist José Antonio Aponte, a free black man who led the first national conspiracy against the Spanish colonialism, registered on 9th of April, 1812 in Havana.

On Monday, April 10, the President of Cuba’s National Assembly of People’s Power, Esteban Lazo Hernández, received Maria Grazia Giammarinaro, UN Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons, especially in women and children, at the legislature’s headquarters.
