Guantanamo.- Yoel Pérez García, the First Secretary of the Party in Guantánamo, emphasized the need for stricter and more systematic control over compliance with tax laws during a recent meeting focused on the province’s socioeconomic vitality.

The top political leader in Guantanamo highlighted a concerning case involving a representative from a local MIPYME who failed to pay 180 million pesos due to repeated and blatant tax evasion.

In response to this issue, a commission of party officials will collaborate with the National Tax Administration Office to thoroughly review the current status of each taxpayer and their sworn declarations. This initiative aims to enhance oversight and ensure adherence to tax obligations.

The meeting also addressed the ongoing challenges with electrical service disruptions, exacerbated by a recent breakdown at one of the thermal plants, which has led to increased outages.

Additionally, there was a noted improvement in the payment of pensions and retiree benefits through economic actors, helping to alleviate congestion in banking offices and enhancing cash availability for the public and non-state management forms.
