The Political Song Festival, promoted by the Hermanos Saíz Association in Guantanamo, the Provincial Directorate of Culture and the Young Communist League to stimulate and make visible the work of new and experienced trova exponents, will take place this year on July 31 to August 5.

Singer-songwriters, poets and musicians are invited to this 48th edition of the event, considered one of the oldest that defends the author’s song in Cuba, who will take place in the easternmost of the provinces to pay tribute to the young Guantanamo martyrs who fell on the 4th. August 1957.

As a novelty, the troubadour event will have an international character and will commemorate the 70 years of the singer-songwriter and founder of the festival Lorenzo Cisneros (Topete) and the Protest Song movement in Mexico.

Additionally, artists from all manifestations, as well as researchers and journalists at home and abroad, whose projects, works and research have to do with the dedications stated or discuss related topics, may also participate in person and online.

The presence of trova in Cuban audiovisual production is the central theme on occasion of celebrating the 65th anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Art and Cinematographic Industry (ICAIC) and the 55th anniversary of the Icaic Sound Experimentation Group.

The Political Song Festival’s program includes concerts, trova and poetry recitals, theoretical panels and exchanges on national and foreign realities, in addition to the usual performances through neighborhoods and municipalities of the province and even a visit to the Border Brigade .

If it is text, the sample will be sent in PDF; while the video will be in mp4 format with export codec h264/ NTSC/ 29.97 fps, proportionality 4:3 or 16:9, and maximum size of 300 MB, and must last a maximum of five minutes.

Plastic artists are required to present an exhibition or exhibition project (personal or collective) with the foundation that validates the relevance of the proposal, all electronically to comercialahsguantanamo@gmail.com with JPG or PDF format, 300 dpi 4960 x 7016 pixels, along with the data (Name and surname, Identity Card, Telephone) and, optionally, other details such as the expo poster, the curatorial design proposal, the hand program, words to the catalogue…

The admission period closes on May 1, 2024. Starting that month, the branch of the Hermanos Saíz Association in Guantánamo will communicate by mail the finalist projects and those invited to the 48th edition of the Political Song Day.
