Guantánamo – With the presence of Yoel Pérez García, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Party in Guantánamo, and Alis Azahares Torreblanca, Governor at the same level, the territorial event for the start of the 2024-2025 school year was held at the Carlos Ulloa Arauz primary school, belonging to the Caimanera Municipality, which stood out in indicators that measure the quality of learning during the past school year.
With an enrollment of 70 students from preschool to sixth grade, the educational center belonging to the Mártires de la Frontera community, started this Monday with a new image after a constructive refurbishment with an estimated budget of more than 300 thousand pesos.
Its students and teachers have the necessary school materials for their studies during this school period, lights, painted classrooms with new furniture, thanks to the repair and maintenance program carried out by the educational sector in Guantánamo, which benefited more than a hundred schools.
At the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year, enterprises, institutions, work centers, socio-cultural projects, as well as the Education Assurance and Services Enterprise were recognized for contributing to the repair of schools and daycare centers, as well as the distribution of school materials and other supplies, among other indicators that made possible the opening of more than 800 schools in Guantánamo.
Raquel Laviste Villafruela, Director General of Education, stressed that despite the complex economic situation in Cuba, the educational sector in Guantanamo did not give up on guaranteeing the quality of the school year, which will have as a priority the political-ideological work, scientific activity, staff development, vocational training and monitoring and control by the management structures of the Third Educational Training Syllabus.

Ibrahim Moraga Pavó, Director General of Education in Caimanera, confirmed that the necessary school materials and notebooks are available, which include adult education and language school.
In the case of the books for the third educational training, they will be received gradually according to the distribution of the country.
