Guantanamo.- Guantanamo university students support the recovery in the municipalities affected by Hurricane Oscar and in this way join the wave of solidarity and humanism that these days is growing in San Antonio del Sur, Imías, Baracoa and Maísi.
From the University of Medical Sciences Silvio Juan de la Cruz, President of the FEU highlighted the performance of the Guerrilla 13 de Marzo brigade, whose members collaborated with the victims who arrived at the facilities of that educational institution that became an evacuation center.
Together with the teachers, they also carried out cleaning and sanitation work at the San Antonio del Sur polyclinic, which allowed it to recover the functioning of its vital services despite the damage caused by the meteorological phenomenon that made landfall in this eastern territory with category 1 on the Saffir Simpson scale.
The students of Medical Sciences in Guantánamo also went to difficult-access areas, where they carried out inquiries, talks and other actions to promote health and prevent communicable diseases that can occur after the passage of a hurricane.
Likewise, the students of the University of Guantánamo support the recovery in the municipalities of the east of the province by caring for the evacuees who remained these days in this center already accustomed to receiving personnel from areas prone to flooding due to heavy rains.
They also visited communities affected by Hurricane Oscar in Imías and San Antonio del Sur and worked on cleaning the university centers in those municipalities. They also participate in the delivery of donations destined for the residents.
In the Guantánamo City, they continue working on classifying donations so that they quickly reach their recipients in the areas affected by Hurricane Oscar.
