Guantánamo.- Guantánamo is mobilized to celebrate July 26th with concrete actions to improve the infrastructure at six educational institutions to ensure better learning conditions and comprehensive student development on occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks.

One of the works is the repair of the “Rubén Batista Rubio” Elementary School, located in Boquerón, in the Manuel Tames Municipality, a constructive action that guarantees a more comfortable and dignified environment for the teaching and educational process of the children of that town.

Build and upgrade education facilities also underway in the hearing rehabilitation room at the “14 de Junio” Special School, which will enhance the communication skills and learning of the 23 students with specific hearing needs.

Early childhood care also receives a significant boost with the creation of four more Casitas Infantiles (Little Children’s Houses) that raises to 43 the total number of children’s houses spread throughout Guantánamo.

These latter institutions, created for the care and early education of more than one hundred children in the towns of San Antonio del Sur, Niceto Pérez, and the city of Guantánamo, expand educational coverage and raise the quality of care in the crucial first years of children’s lives.

In addition to the aforementioned progress, the educational sector in Guantánamo also celebrates the 26th of July with outstanding results in contests and Olympiads for priority subjects, as well as in the national contest Leer a Martí (To Read Martí), which promotes greater understanding of the Apostle’s life and work.

For its part, the special education sector celebrates its successes at the National School Games, where its athletes took to the podium, in which they demonstrated their talent, dedication, and excellence.

These comprehensive results, both in the refurbishment of buildings and in training, are the best tribute from the men and, women who work in the Guantanamo education sector to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks on July 26, 1953.
