Guantánamo – The Spanish Solidarity Group with Cuba from Almuñécar Baracoa visited the Mártires de la Gloria Mixed School in the town of Caimanera as part of their tour in the municipality of Caimanera, which borders the illegal US naval base located in Guantánamo Bay.
During their visit to the Mártires de la Gloria School, the Spanish delegation, mostly retired men and women from the education sector, learned about the progress of the teaching and learning process, the connection between home, school, and community, and the significant contribution of the Guayacán Negro sociocultural project to the spiritual well-being of the students and the rest of the community.
Niurvis Portuondo Félix, the principal of the Mártires de la Gloria Mixed Center, addressed the visitors, thanking them for their altruistic and supportive gesture, while reaffirming their commitment to the principle that solidarity is the tenderness of peoples.
The Almuñécar-Baracoa group is an expression of the nation-to-nation twinning established more than 20 years ago between that Spanish city and the first Cuban town, with the aim of strengthening ties of solidarity, cooperation, and friendship between the people of Andalusia and Cuba.
