Guantánamo – With the goal of training professionals at the highest scientific level nationwide, in pursuit of sustainable development, the University of Guantánamo held its eighth doctoral graduation ceremony.

The ceremony was dedicated to the 45th anniversary of this Guantánamo university, the centennial of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, and the 50th anniversary of Higher Education in Cuba.

PHD. Yurelquis Fernández Maura, Vice-Rector of Science, Research, and Postgraduate Studies, acknowledged the importance of incorporating a new generation of men and women capable of contributing to the economy and society in different areas of knowledge.

During the event, doctoral degrees were awarded to some twenty professionals from different disciplines, including 7 graduates from other universities in the country. Researchers from various institutions of the provincial delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, the University of Moa and its counterpart of Medical Sciences of Guantánamo were also recognized.
