Guantanamo.- The top Cuban men’s beach volleyball duo, comprised of Guantanamo natives Eblis Veranes and Damián Gómez, won the silver medal at the second stop of the NORCECA Tour, held in the Dominican Republic this weekend (May 8-10).
The Cubans lost in the final to the Mexican duo of Carlos Andrés Ayala and Inés Antonio Vargas Lares with a score of 1-2 (17-21, 21-11, and 7-15).
Sixteen pairs participated in the tournament, both men’s and women’s, and the group stage began last Friday with the aim of securing their place in the qualifying round.
