Guantanamo.- Yoel Pérez García, First Secretary of the Party in Guantánamo Province, has called for enhanced efforts to adopt measures aimed at sustaining the territory’s socioeconomic stability amid the ongoing energy crisis impacting the nation. This crisis is largely attributed to the escalation of aggressive policies by the United States government.
During the latest evaluation meeting focused on the vitality of strategic sectors within the economy and public services, Pérez García emphasized that the population should maintain confidence, as this situation is temporary and all possible efforts are being undertaken to mitigate its effects.
Alis Azahares Torreblanca, Governor of Guantánamo, highlighted that ensuring ambulance services for urgent cases, hemodialysis, and other critical public health operations remain priorities. Additionally, funeral services and coffin production are being maintained without interruption.
Due to fuel shortages, the province will implement rationalization measures concerning the water supply, including limiting distribution through the aqueduct network and tanker trucks, which are currently experiencing reduced demand and frequency.
The day’s analysis by Guantánamo’s senior authorities underscored food production as another key focus area, particularly emphasizing short-cycle crops that allow for faster turnover and availability to the population.
In his routine communication with company directors, organizational leaders, party officials, and municipal authorities via audio conference, Yoel Pérez García urged collective vigilance to prevent opportunistic behaviors such as product hoarding and price inflation, which could foment public dissatisfaction during these complex and challenging times.
