Guantanamo.- International Museum Day was celebrated in Guantánamo on May 18th, centered around the theme “Museums Uniting a Divided World.” The event was led by Provincial Director of Culture Yoelvys Labañino López and featured contributions from museum specialists and staff from various institutions across the province.
The gathering took place at the Guantánamo Provincial Museum, where the Cultural Heritage Center honored the efforts of personnel from several municipal museums, including Fuerte Matachín in Baracoa, 19 de Diciembre in Caimanera, and the Major General Pedro Agustín Pérez House Museum in the provincial capital.

Francisco Ramírez Sarmiento, director of the Provincial Center for Cultural Heritage, delivered a keynote address highlighting the dedication and challenges faced by the staff at the province’s 21 cultural centers in preserving and promoting museum heritage.
The event was further enriched by the vibrant sounds of Changüí Guantánamo, along with performances from violinist Sarbelio Matos, soloist Dayamis Lores, and declaimer Ángel Boffil. The Danza Fragmentada Company also contributed to the festivities, all under the engaging hosting of announcer Magela Zamora Simons.
