Although Washington insists on denying the existence of the economic blockade against Cuba, the State Department announced new restrictions this Thursday under Executive Order 14404. The measure reinforces the embargo despite repeated official denials about its real impact on the Cuban archipelago.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla reacted on X, calling the decision a “collective punishment” against the entire Cuban people. He added that each act of aggression reveals that the U.S. objective goes beyond politics and seeks to inflict humanitarian suffering.
Rodríguez Parrilla also pointed out that including the Cuban Medical Services Marketing Company and the Central Unit for Medical Cooperation in the sanctions is a direct attack on global health. He warned that it harms hundreds of thousands of people who receive humanitarian assistance in various countries.
The foreign minister emphasized the paradox of the world’s richest country insisting on denying this fundamental right to its own citizens. With these measures, he asserted, it becomes increasingly difficult to conceal the genocidal intentions of the US administration against Cuba.
