Guantánamo ensures continuity of studies for ninth grade graduates

Guantanamo.-More than 5,495 students who completed the ninth grade in junior high school, in Guantanamo province are assured of continuing their studies at the pre-university and technical-vocational levels, the latter with the highest number of graduates.

Magalis Vidal Louis, Provincial Head for this level of education, pointed out to CMKS that more than six thousand places available in the eastern territory, 57 percent of the majors were awarded to students who opted for the specialties of construction, agronomy, mechanics, forestry, agriculture and livestock, pedagogy, among other options.

She also stated that around 560 students have chosen health careers, including nursing and vector control, while another 500 will continue their studies next September at the Jose Maceo Grajales Vocational Institute of Exact Sciences.

The provincial methodologist of junior high school education, Magalis Vidal, also pointed out that for the next school year another 522 students will be trained as primary school teachers, kindergarten teachers and English teachers, in order to achieve a higher quality in the process of recruiting future teachers.

Guantanamo province includes, among other study possibilities, the Camilo Cienfuegos Vocational School, the Rafael Freire Sports Initiation School, as well as music and dance schools.
