More than 16 thousand students will begin the 2024 academic year at the University of Guantanamo on Monday, January 15, a period marked by modifications to match the teaching calendars of general education with higher education as in previous years, said Vladimir Naranjo Gómez, vice-rector ofprofessional training at the House of Science and Progress.
This teaching cycle – he said – will be the last to be developed with the fiscal year modality and will conclude on September 27, as part of the process of adapting the study schedule affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
This new stage will have 30 teaching weeks, discounting the week off due to the Playa Girón victory, as well as the summer vacations. Naranjo Gómez clarified that terminal year students will be able to extend their study completion exercise until December, if necessary.
He also said that that the readjustments made in Cuban Higher Education guarantee the quality and relevance of the training process for future professionals, while facilitating better organization and academic planning.
He announced that the 2024-2025 school year is expected to begin on September 16 for first year, with students who will take the entrance tests to Higher Education next May, while the rest of students will begin on October 14.
