Guantanamo.- The first of two additional trips scheduled this month for the Guantánamo–Havana train, which is intended primarily to transport military personnel and university students, will take place on October 8, departing at 3:40 p.m.
The announcement was made by Pedro Durruthy Martínez, the provincial director of railway operations. He explained that any remaining seats would be made available to the general public, with priority given to passengers who have medical appointments, require hospital admission, are relatives of deceased persons, or face other urgent medical or social circumstances.
A second special service is scheduled for October 22, traveling from the city of Guantánamo to Havana. The measures are being implemented by the Cuban Railway Union, which is currently carrying out a process of technical and operational restructuring to maintain scheduled freight and passenger services amid severe logistical constraints.
The province’s senior railway official also confirmed that regular Guantánamo–Havana service will operate on October 10 and 24, in accordance with the established schedule of one trip every 16 days.
