Guantanamo.- The Conchitas de Mar Daycare Center in Turey, Baracoa, is adopting the alternatives implemented by the Education sector to address the energy shortage.
Niubis Pérez Navarro, the institution’s deputy director, said that children are received until 9:00 a.m. and that later arrivals are being considered, with prior notice from parents.
Pérez Navarro explained that due to current energy deficient and the reorganization of workplaces, families can pick up their children after 12:30 p.m.
So far, she added, the center’s 215 children are receiving the established diet, which is prepared with liquefied gas or other sources such as firewood, sawdust ovens, or coal.
The assistant director of the Conchitas del Mar Daycare Center in Baracoa stated that the unreliable electricity supply is not affecting the implementation of educational activities and reported that they are already preparing their summer program.
