Guantanamo.- The Eliseo Osorio Cordero Art Gallery in Baracoa is showcasing two group exhibitions this September, highlighting the region’s vibrant landscape art. The main exhibition, “Distancia” (Distances), opened on September 1 and features works from local painters in celebration of significant anniversaries, including the 114th birthday of Mariano Urgelles and the 515th anniversary of Baracoa itself.
In addition to, the gallery’s multi-purpose room hosts “Desenfrenos” (Unrestrained), showcasing the talents of UNEAC members Mildo Matos Carcasés, Guillermo Orlando Piedra Labañino, and Rafael Joel Rey Barroso. This exhibition reflects the rich artistic diversity of Baracoa, known as Cuba’s “First City,” through various genres and techniques.
The gallery’s September programming also includes a panel discussion on painter Osmel Prieto Frómeta and an “Exhibition of the Month” featuring Alexei Osorio Blet.
Furthermore, the “Works and Authors” project at the Matachín Museum will complement specialized tours for diverse audiences, ensuring an inclusive experience for children, adults, individuals with disabilities, and international visitors.
