Guantanamo,. A new cafeteria service is set to be introduced in junior high schools throughout the Guantánamo municipality in the latter half of September, as part of an initiative aimed at transforming the education sector’s socioeconomic landscape.
This program seeks to provide food options for students at this level, especially in light of the challenges that have hindered the continuation of the School Snack Program due to economic constraints.
During a recent meeting focused on the province’s operational status, Yoel Pérez García, the Party’s First Secretary, emphasized the urgency of implementing this new food service, particularly for students from vulnerable backgrounds.
The meeting, attended by senior Guantánamo officials and various agency representatives, also addressed the distribution of essential school supplies, including pencils and notebooks, as well as food provisions for daycare centers.
Another significant topic discussed was the organization of pension payments for retirees in Guantánamo. Oscar Mendoza Pérez, the Provincial Director of Labor and Social Security, reported advancements in collaborating with non-state economic actors to enhance efficiency and reduce congestion at banks.
Additionally, the meeting highlighted the need for innovative solutions to ongoing issues related to the Maternal and Child Health Program, the epidemiological situation, solid waste management, and water supply in several municipalities.
