Guantanamo.- The Rafael Castiello Multipurpose Hall—known as “La Caldera de San Justo”—in the city of Guantánamo hosted the Antonio Martín Memorial Basketball Tournament from August 21 to 30. The event brought together the Lobos Pre-Veterans, Tigres Veterans, Los Indios del Guaso Juniors, and Tiburones de Caimanera, offering days filled with competition, camaraderie, and a shared passion for basketball.
The final matchup between the Tigres and the Lobos was a close and thrilling contest. Both teams displayed high-quality basketball and kept spectators on the edge of their seats until the closing minutes, when the Tigres secured the victory.
The tournament also featured prominent figures from Guantánamo’s basketball community, along with sponsors whose support contributed to the event’s success.

Beyond the competition itself, the tournament once again underscored the need to promote and support initiatives of this kind in the province’s sports facilities, particularly amid the limited resources available for developing high-level leagues.
Experience has shown that with organization, commitment, and support, it is possible to create spaces for competition, intergenerational exchange, the development of young talent, and the healthy enjoyment of a sport with deep roots in Guantánamo.
