The National Accreditation Board (JAN) of the Ministry of Higher Education granted the category of Excellence to the Physical Education career and to the Psycho-pedagogical Teaching specialty, which are taught at the University of Guantanamo (UG).

In the opinion, the evaluators recognized the professors and students of sports education for the impact of their projects in the eastern territory, and distinguished the inter-institutional relations of the Faculty of Physical Education for the diversity of collaboration agreements established with homologous centers of the Russian Federation and Jamaica.

They also verified the availability of a Master’s Degree Program for the Phys Ed career at the UG, and the high visibility of the scientific results of the Senate, made up of 38 professors, of whom 21 hold degree of Doctor of Sciences and the rest, the Master Degree.

It turned out that in the evaluated stage, 158 publications in referenced journals were achieved, increasing participation in national and international events, solid links with grassroots labor entities, plus the graduation of 140 professionals in the modality of the regular daytime course with optimal scientific preparation -methodological and theoretical-didactic.

Regarding the postgraduate specialty of psychopedagogical teaching, the National Accreditation Board’s external evaluation report, highlighted the effectiveness of the curriculum in order to raise the scientific, sociocultural and professional pedagogical training of the graduates, who provided relevant solutions to different educational problems in Guantanamo institutions.

Similarly, they endorsed the effective teaching organization to guarantee the integration of content in the courses, while the praised the strengthening of the Senate with professionals categorized as Doctors of Science and graduates of the specialty.
