Cuba will participate at the 13th World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference to take place February 26-29 in Abu Dabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Cuban delegation to the conference will be headed by Norberto Escalona, ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and will also include officials from the island’s Foreign Trade and Investment Ministry and the Cuban Permanent Mission in Geneva, according to the Cuban Foreign Ministry.

The meeting will adopt the Abu Dabi ministerial declaration although the conference will open by addressing pending issues requiring political advice by the ministers to adopt decisions, the information adds.

Debates will focus on issues related to agriculture, fishing, trade and development, the differentiated and favorable treatment principle, among others.

During the conference the WTO will adopt Timor Leste and The Comoros islands as new members. The meeting is the top decision-taking body of the WTO and is convened every two years.
