Andy Pereira and Jorge Moises Campos defeated Indians Manav Vikash Thakkar and Manush Utpalbhai Shah 3-1 today to win gold at the Beirut International Table Tennis Tournament.

After losing the first set 11-5, the Caribbean duo took advantage of the opposing service to impose their strength in the attack and managed to win the remaining three sets with scores of 11-7, 13-11 and 14-12, to star in the best performance of America in the tournament.

In less than 34 minutes, the Cubans celebrated the title in the first edition of the Lebanese competition and added 125 points to their ranking with a balance of four successes, including victories over the teams from Kazakhstan, Lebanon and Iran.

As they told Prensa Latina, this Thursday Pereira and Moises Campos went out to battle against the Indian duo with the aim of continuing to climb positions in the world ranking.
