Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said that the island’s medical brigade in Haiti keeps working although with limitations imposed by the circumstances and only with crucial personnel.

On his X account, Rodriguez said that ambassador Carlos Moya arrived in Port-au-Prince from Santo Domingo onboard a helicopter because the international airport in the Haitian capital is closed.

The Cuban Embassy keeps providing consular services to Cuban residents and in transit in Haiti, as well as to their relatives, wrote the Foreign Minister in a second X message, who added that their return home is being coordinated with airline companies.

The increase of violence by criminal gangs and their clashes with police forces in Haiti have led to the declaration of state of emergency, while air traffic has been cancelled.

Cuba has provided Haiti with cooperation and support in public health, education, agriculture, sports, energy and other sectors.
