Peregrinar la historia (Go searching on history) and “Manuel Tames y sus senderos (Manuel Tames and his trails) are among the main options for family enjoyment, offered by the Culture sector in that Guantanamo municipality during this Summer 2023.
Improving the knowledge of emblematic places of Manuel Tames as well as people and events of historical significance is the purpose of these routes that will be led by specialists from the “Justino Saborí” Museum on Wednesdays in July and August.
In this summer season, the Houses of Culture system has also created spaces to stimulate the promotion of local traditions through the development of guitar, repentismo, music, percussion and piano workshops, which will take place every Tuesday.
Workshops on body expression, creation and rhythm, composition of the scenic space, for learning dances such as the casino, the rumba and the changüí invite those interested to attend these institutions every Friday.
The changüi music crusade, the book fairs, the rueda de casino, urban dance and sugar cane heritage festivals, as well as the presentation of the brigade of art instructors in neighborhoods in transformation, Plan Turquino communities and other areas of difficult access are included in the program of summer activities in the Manuel Tames, the largest municipality of Guantanamo Province.
The new edition of the carvers meeting is carried out as every year at the Zoologico de Piedras (Stone Zoo) to evoke the legacy of Ángel Íñigo, creator of this unique site that is declared a national cultural heritage in 1985, where also the most important moments of the program designed for recreation this summer 2023, take place.
