Guantanamo.- In a concerted effort to promote the extensive economic revitalization plan set forth by the Cuban government, a seminar was convened at the Diómedes Silveira Valdés Cultural Center in El Salvador Municipality, where key stakeholders were trained for the implementation of the 176 approved measures aimed at driving comprehensive economic and social transformations.
The seminar gathered an array of influential participants, including Party officials, municipal directors of government bodies, representatives from political and mass organizations, and members of the Municipal Party Committee. Among those present were Marisleydis Millán Acosta, member of the Provincial Party Bureau in Guantánamo, and Carlos Raúl Martínez Turro, Vice Governor of Guantánamo province, accompanied by the region’s highest political and governmental authorities.
A primary focus throughout the seminar was ensuring the proper execution of these transformative policies. Emphasis was placed on achieving equitable distribution of benefits—prioritizing fairness over equality—under the Party’s leadership and with active popular participation as a fundamental guiding principle.
The seminar covered twenty-three thematic areas, featuring presentations by the provincial director of the Bank of Credit and Commerce, representatives from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, and the Delegate of Agriculture. A major highlight was the declaration that state-owned enterprises will transition into commercial companies, marking a critical structural shift within the economic reform agenda.
In addition, the plan places significant priority on supporting vulnerable population groups through initiatives like the Family Support System and Community Food Centers. To further enhance financial inclusion, the promotion of online payments was underscored as a strategic objective.
This seminar represents a crucial step towards mobilizing local leadership and community participation in the ambitious endeavor to transform Guantánamo’s economy and society, aligning with the broader national vision for sustainable development.
