Guantanamao.- The local development department, located within the Caimanera Municipal Government, manages a diverse portfolio of 35 projects, categorized into economic and productive, sociocultural, institutional, environmental, research, development, and innovation initiatives.

Among these, 14 projects focus specifically on local economic and productive development, which is crucial for generating food and income—a national priority. This emphasis on economic growth does not exclude the approval of sociocultural and institutional projects, reflecting a comprehensive approach to community development.

A key aspect of these initiatives is the diversification of the energy grid, which is particularly relevant to economic-productive projects. For instance, alongside the installation of solar panels for street lighting, a notable project involves the Miguel Antonio Caballero Credit and Services Cooperative, in Cayamo settlement, which will harness solar energy for water pumping to support food production. This innovative approach not only enhances local agricultural output, but also aligns with broader sustainability goals.

The impact of local development projects extends beyond economic metrics; they significantly improve the quality of life for residents. By shifting towards a more sustainable energy matrix, these initiatives aim to bolster local production and stimulate economic growth within the municipality, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable future for the community.
