
Guantanamo has a favorable situation for the start of the 2023-2024 school year, on September 4, despite the material limitations that affect the country, accordng to Cira Piñeiro Alonso, First Deputy Minister of Education in checking the preparations for the period.
Rafael Pérez Fernández, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Communist Party in the province, and Governor Alis Azahares Torreblanca, presided over the check-up together with Raquel Laviste Villafruela, director of Education in the territory.
The teaching coverage is favorable, upon having teachers prepared and committed to overcome any problem, said the Vice Minister and when exchanging with directors and personnel, she recognized the monitoring of the authorities and organizations to guarantee what must be distributed in each municipality and school,
according to the adjusted norms and priorities to start the course.
General education in Guantanamo will have 806 centers in the new academic year, with an enrollment of 87,389 students, increased by 2,575 compared to the previous period, due to growth in Early Childhood;
Preschool; Secondary education; Special education, and Adults, although it decreases Primary and pedagogical schools, according to the provincial director of Education.
