Guantánamo – A working commission headed by the PhD. Reynaldo Velázquez Zaldívar, First Vice Minister of Higher Education (MES, in Spanish abbreviation), evaluated at the University of Guantánamo (UG) the preparations for the start of the 2024-2025 school year, which is returning to normal.

Velazquez Zaldívar together with other representatives of the MES analyzed in three working commissions, the results and projections of the implementation of the political-ideological work and the work carried out in the nine municipal university centers of the eastern territory, as well as the refurbishment of student residences and the guarantee of material and financial resources for the new school year.

The first vice-minister of the MES said that the UG is moving forward in the implementation of educational and political-ideological work and professional training, as well as in the creation of Children’s House, an alternative that constitutes a stimulus to achieve stability in the work students and teachers who are mothers at the same time.

During the exchange with the Faculty and directors of the headquarters carried out this Wednesday in the largest higher learning institution of the province, the rector Osiris Aranda Creagh, reported that the UG has an enrollment of more than 13 thousand university students, who will continue higher education in 31 careers.

The MES leader announced that the new academic year will begin on September 16 for students in their first year of Higher Education, who passed the entrance exams last May, while the undergraduates will begin on October 14.
