In the context of the 32nd Havana International Book Fair, the young Guantanamo author Ragnar Wilfredo Robas, was given the 2024 Poetry Calendario Prize, the most important literary award conferred by the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) in the country, during a meeting held in the Nicolás Guillén Room of the Morro-Cabaña Complex.

The Minister of Culture of Cuba, Alpidio Alonso Grau, and the National President of AHS, Yasel Toledo Garnache, presented the recognition to the Guantanamo writer during the awards giving ceremony, in which other authors were also honored: Náthaly Hernández, in the Science Fiction category; Robert Ráez, in narrative; Iramís Rosique, in essay and Lioneski Buquet, in the children’s and youth section.

The writer from Imias and visual artist, member of the Hermanos Saíz Association branch in Guantanamo and head of its literature section, got this significant national recognition for his collection of poems “Things that burn in the grass”, a result that was made known by this cultural organization from its institutional profile on Facebook social network last January.

During his participation in the 32nd issue of the Havana International Book Fair, writer Ragnar Wilfredo Robas also attended from February 19 to the 23rd this month, as a guest for the second time at the 13th Havana and Ibero-America Meeting of Young Writers, representing Guantanamo.
