Guantanamo. The Guantánamo baseball team, the Indios Guerreros del Guaso (Guaso Warrior Indians), received its flag ahead of the 65th National Series. The ceremony coincided with the 66th anniversary of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR).
The event, held at CDR No. 5 in Zone 190 of the Sur-Isleta People’s Council, was attended by provincial Party and government officials, representatives of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER), legendary Guantánamo baseball players, and local residents. They joined the team’s more than 30 members in celebrating the occasion.
During the ceremony, the players recited their oath, pledging to compete in every game of the championship with discipline and honor.
They also signed the code of ethics governing their conduct both on and off the field. In addition, CDR representatives presented the team with an award recognizing its close ties to the community.
