Guantanamo. The Guantánamo Provincial Government Council’s September session focused on the implementation and fulfillment of economic plan and budget targets across the province’s municipalities, with particular emphasis on accounts receivable and payable, the collection of fines, and the implementation of tax policy.
The meeting, chaired by Governor Alis Azahares Torreblanca, also addressed institutional communications and the use of social media to promote and defend Cuba’s social project. Other topics included the housing program and the local production of construction materials.
The Council further reviewed land-use planning, measures to prevent illegal urban development, and the current status of local development projects. In this regard, the importance of ensuring that these initiatives generate a tangible economic impact in the municipalities was emphasized.
During the meeting of the People’s Power Government Council, officials reiterated that the body’s primary mission is to promote territorial development and advance the economic and social transformations currently taking place across the country.
