The Guantanamo sprint canoeist José Ramón Pelier Córdova has just obtained the quota for the Paris 2024 Olympics, in the Men’s Canoe Single 1000m at the Pan American Speed Canoe Championship, in the Sarasota City, in the United States.

The young man from Baracoa arrives in Sarasota being champion of the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile 2023, an event in which he was escorted by the silver Brazilian Isaquias Queiroz, the winner of four Olympic medals, including the gold medal of that specialty in Tokyo 2020, and the bronze medal in Fitzpatrick.

Before leaving for the United States, Alejandro Hamze, President and National Commissioner, tells the Cuban News Agency that Pelier is completing a good stage of preparation to achieve his goal the Parisian event.

Garcia recalled that the participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games has already been assured for the single scullers Reidy Cardona (1xH) and Yariulvis Cobas (1xF), as well as, but pending places, Roberto Carlos “Paz and Leduar Suarez, in the double sculls (2xH), in all cases in the open category.
