Guantanamo.- The Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) in Guantánamo holds activities to commemorate Orange Day, a global initiative that seeks to mobilize public opinion and governments toward concrete actions in favor of a culture of nonviolence.
Every 25th of the month, the women of Guantánamo join in this call, with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of preventing and eradicating violence against women and girls.
This day represents a valuable opportunity for communities to join the fight against gender violence, promoting an environment free of discrimination and inequality.
With more than 190,000 members, the organization reaffirms its commitment to working to build a society where all women and girls can live without fear of violence.
The Women and Families Guidance Center has supported numerous women affected by situations of violence. In this context, two projects related to supporting the national response to gender-based violence in Cuba have been implemented.
The Orange Day activities also serve as a prelude to reflection, communication, and sharing experiences among participants. Self-preparation and guidance are central to the meetings, which promote a safe space for dialogue and support.
Guantánamo has seven municipalities recognized nationally for their efforts in violence counseling, reflecting the local commitment to disseminating and strengthening actions that seek to eradicate gender-based violence.
Through these initiatives, Guantanamo women continue to advance in their fight for a future free of violence, reaffirming their fundamental role in building a more just and egalitarian society.
