Guantanamo.- With the inauguration of two children’s houses in the settlements of Glorieta and Hatibonico, the easternmost province of Cuba has 38 institutions of this type, an alternative that benefits more than a thousand working mothers from all over Guantanamo Province to date.

According to Yuvasnovis Maceo, the principal of Early Childhood Care in the Education sector, this variant of educational care is part of the Policy for Attention to Demographic Dynamics in the Guantanamo Province and it is supported by organizations involved such as agriculture, culture, universities and the educational sector itself, the latter has boosted the creation of these children’s centers.

Maceo Pérez also stated the children’s house benefits to date more than a thousand girls and boys under one to five years of age, who are assisted by educators and pedagogical assistants, in charge of forming in them habits of courtesy, values ​​and love for the country and its heroes.

The children who benefit from this educational program also learn to recognize geometric shapes, vowels, colors, and understand basic math and oral expression, said the principal of Education in the province.

Given the lack of capacity for enrollment at child care centers in the province, the creation of children’s houses is being considered; of which 22 belong to the education sector and the municipalities of Guantánamo, Caimanera, Baracoa, Yateras, El Salvador and Niceto Pérez stand out.
