The Guantanamo multiple champion and qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Yarisledis Cirilo, leads the group of Cuban canoeists who traveled to Portugal to carry out a training base.

“They travel today after overcoming obstacles that Cuban sports is imposed for the training, competition, and the medals that make the people happy,” Alejandro Hamze, president of the Cuban federation of this sport said.

“We are going to continue training to reach the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in optimal shape,” added the Guantanamo athlete, world leader in the C1-200 m.

Cirilo, who has also guaranteed her presence in the C2-500 m, will be accompanied by Yisnoly López, who will also be presence in Paris 2024.

The list is completed with canoeists José Ramón Pelier, in the C1-1000 m, and the young Misleidys Ávila of the C2-500. Kayaker Dailén Rodríguez also appears in the K1-500.

Once the party in the French capital is over, the canoeing exponents will complete their 2024 compromises. They have planned a training base from August 12 to 25 prior to the world cups in Poland and Uzbekistan, in that order. Cuba has 29 Olympic and eight Paralympic qualifiers for Paris 2024, in canoeing and other sports.
