The increase to eight fights, one more than initially planned, stands out among the details specified in the Cuban resort city of Varadero with a view to the boxing match between Cuba and France.

The match, scheduled for Friday, April 5, at the Brisas del Caribe Hotel, will feature an eighth fight in the 57-kilogram division, as Cuba will be represented by world silver medalist Saidel Horta, and the king of the Cologne World Cup in 2023, Rolando Martinez, according to www.jit.cu.

Horta will remain, as planned, as the opponent of the European runner-up Lounes Hanraou, while Martinez will be the rival of the bronze medalist in the 2021 Belgrade World Cup, Samuel Kistohurry.

Cuban Boxing Federation President Alberto Puig told the website that among the remaining bouts, the local and second place in the world, Erislandy Alvarez, and Sofiane Oumiha, the Rio de Janeiro 2016 five-round runner-up and three-time world champion, stand out.

The website noted that the rest of the fights will take place in the 51-kg division: Alejandro Claro vs. Billal Bennama; 71 kg: Jorge Cuellar vs. Makan Traore; 80 kg: Arlen Lopez vs. Cesar Yorelin; 92 kg: Julio César La Cruz vs. Soheb Bouafia; and in +92 kg: Fernando Arzola vs. Djamili Aboudou.

As a preamble to Friday’s event, the hotel will host six fights, including women’s combats in the 75 kg and duels with Cuban and foreign participation.
