Guantanamo.- “Honor to whom honor is due,” said the Apostle José Martí and this remarks that now honor twenty specialists of the Doctor Agostinho Neto General Teaching Hospital in Guantanamo, who most of them have been dedicated for more than half a century to teaching and medicine.

Among those honored is Dr. Norma Baglan Bobadilla, a second-degree specialist in pediatrics and Master in comprehensive child care, graduated in 1969 in Havana and founder of the largest hospital institution in the province.

Other professors such as the surgeon Angel Piris Momblan, of 85 years of age and with 55 years of work, continues to be linked to assistance, as well as the specialist in legal medicine, Enrique Guilarte Ramirez, although already retired, feels the pleasure of serving in the training of the new generations by contributing with his participation in examination boards.

After forty years of teaching medicine in Guantanamo, the value of professors also linked to assistance is recognized, who since then fulfill the mission of comprehensively training professionals from Cuba and other nations of Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia and Africa.

During the modest ceremony, the honorees were acknowleged for so much dedication, professionalism, sensitivity and ethics, qualities that give prestige to the entire health sector in this eastern territory.
