Guantanamo.- During the daily meeting with all municipalities across the province, authorities emphasized the need to increase and stabilize the volume of cash deposits made to local banks.
This was identified as a key measure to ensure the timely payment of salaries and benefits this month, particularly for the education sector and pensioners.
The meeting, held via audio conference with municipal authorities and chaired by the province’s top Party and Government officials, highlighted the importance of securing daily bank deposits of approximately 15 million Cuban pesos.
To date, branches of the Bank of Popular Savings (BPA) and the Bank of Credit and Commerce (BANDEC) have collected just over 12 million pesos, reaching 94 percent and 77 percent, respectively, of their daily collection targets.
Authorities stressed the need to increase these figures to improve banking services and better meet the needs of the population.
Officials also reported that, thanks to timely rainfall and the coordinated efforts of forest rangers and other emergency response forces, the wildfire that broke out in recent days in the Ojito de Agua area of Alejandro de Humboldt National Park—the country’s largest reserve of biodiversity and endemic species—has been brought under control.
The meeting also reviewed progress in the collection of fresh milk for industrial processing and compliance with the provincial commercial distribution plan. However, commercial enterprises in Baracoa, Manuel Tames, San Antonio del Sur, and Imías failed to meet their established targets.
Another issue discussed was the continued problem of damaged electrical transformers throughout the province and the significant impact this has on both the state and residential sectors.
