Guantánamo.- Guantánamo University (UG, in Spanish abbreviation) strengthens international academic cooperation through more than 100 agreements with universities in Mexico, Russia, Spain, China, India, and other countries.
These agreements promote two-way exchanges, scholarships, internships, and professional development for students and faculty, according to Idalmis Ortiz Verdecía, Director of International Relations for the Master of Science program.
The UG also contributes to government cooperation by sending professionals to Venezuela, Mozambique, Equatorial Guinea, and Angola. More than 30 collaborators serve there annually.
Ortiz Verdecía explains that collaboration with Russia is active, with master’s scholarships at the Russian State Social University and doctoral programs at the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia.
In addition to, they take advantage of doctoral scholarships provided by the Mexican government, as well as an agreement with the University of Valladolid in Spain, which facilitates the training of teachers and doctors.
Likewise, courses for executives in China and internships in Russia for undergraduate students are offered, while scholarships in India complete the range of international opportunities.
The Director of International Relations at the UG highlights the key agreement with the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium), in place since 2009, which promotes cocoa research projects and regional development.
Guantánamo University actively participates in international projects, primarily related to agricultural production, technology, education, and sustainable development, reaffirming its commitment to academic excellence and international cooperation.
