Guantanamo – With the start of the school year on September 16 in higher education, the Guantanamo University (UG) and its nine municipal centers resume their traditional calendar that will coincide with general education, said Vladimir Naranjo Gómez, vice-rector of professional training at the House of Science and Progress.
He also stated that the start of the new bachelor’s degree in social work is planned for those who applied for the irregular course and that there will be about 13,300 students in the classrooms to continue higher education in 35 careers. The UG’s students will be attended by a staff of professors who have a strong academic background and extensive experience and are committed to guaranteeing educational quality, despite the complex situation of the country.
Naranjo Gómez announced that the academic course for the first year will be 42 weeks, so it is a normal course and, in the case of continuing students, it will be 38 weeks, from October to July.
He stressed that this will be a higher quality course, and graduates will be able to take advantage of the in-person classes and become more involved in the high-impact activities that contribute to their comprehensive training and the development of the province, particularly the territories.
