Alberto Alvarez Loredo, maintenance man of hydraulic works of the Sanitation UEB  at the Guantánamo Aqueduct and Sewage Enterprise, distinguished with the honorary title Hero of the Republic of Cuba, heads the list of those who this year receive high recognition from the labor movement and the State for the sustained and extraordinary work and merits achieved in favor of the Revolution and Society.

This was announced by Juana Eglis Fernandez Louit, general secretary of the Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC, in Spanish abbreviation) in the province, and announced that as part of the celebrations of the World Proletariat Day the previous Medal and the Lázaro Peña Order of the first degree that Lorenzo Maceo Revé, coppersmith “A” at the Argeo Martínez power plant, will be awarded by the highest authorities of the country in a solemn celebration in Havana.

According to the information of the union leader, Fernando Silega Durruthy, a mechanic at the Argeo Martínez sugar agro-industrial enterprise, will be awarded the second degree Lázaro Peña Order; while the same distinction, in the third degree category, was awarded to the workers Miriam Centeno González, from EsAzucar, in Argeo Martínez and the Civil Defense workers Leonel Rodríguez Laffita, Gladys Martínez Sánchez, José Arístides Pons Martínez, Roberto Baró Brooks and Isabel Febles Otamendi.

Likewise, another 21 union leaders were awarded the Lázaro Peña Order, in the third degree category and one with the Jesús Méndez Medal, the latter distinction also granted to civilian workers of one of the territory’s military units.
