The 2025-2026 school year in Guantánamo is being developed under strategic guidelines aimed at the comprehensive education of new generations, with special attention to political and ideological work, drug prevention, and ongoing training for educators, as essential pillars of the teaching-educational process.
The leading officials of the different educational levels in the ten municipalities, in their methodological preparations, also emphasize the need to strengthen political and ideological work in the classroom, with the goal of fostering solid principles, patriotism, and a clear understanding of social reality in students.
This work is conceived transversally in all subjects, leveraging the educational potential of each content to contribute to shaping a youth committed to their time and their Revolution.
Another of the most sensitive priorities being addressed with special emphasis is preventive work to prevent drug use among adolescents, through a program of systematic actions involving schools, families, and the community.
At these meetings, educators, the Attorney General’s Office, and health specialists develop workshops, and awareness-raising activities on the devastating effects of addiction on minors.
At the same time, they monitor the development of teaching staff, a training effort that is directed, with particular emphasis, at newly hired teachers to ensure their rapid and effective integration into the teaching process.
Through tutoring, advanced training courses, and the support of experienced educators, the program seeks to raise the quality of teaching, modernize teaching methods, and ensure the stability of the teaching staff.
These priorities, which govern the daily work of more than 800 educational institutions in Guantanamo, reflect a holistic vision of education that transcends academic instruction to develop responsible, healthy citizens prepared to contribute to the development of society.
The educational system of Cuba’s easternmost province thus reaffirms its commitment to excellence and its decisive role in the battle of ideas for the future of the nation.
