Guantanamo.- Work on the solar panel park in the Jesús Lores community of Imías Municipality resumed on September 18, with a team from the Architectural Construction Company (ECOA 57) based in Santiago de Cuba leading the efforts.

Project leader, young architect Francisco Alejandro Castillo Reyes, indicated that this new phase commenced with an evaluation of the necessary resources for the installation, which are anticipated to arrive soon.

He mentioned that the current focus is on installing the remaining piles and excavating sites for the container units.

Castillo Reyes further explained that once these initial tasks are completed and the site is adequately prepared, a specialized crew will be brought in to install the solar panels, which are already available in the municipality.

He emphasized that the project’s resumption, initially started in November of the previous year, underscores the country’s commitment to transforming its energy matrix, particularly in light of the challenges posed by the U.S. economic blockade.

This initiative is crucial for diversifying electricity generation and reducing dependence on fossil fuels, especially given the frequent electrical service disruptions.
