With the production of 41 percent of the notebook and 50 percent of books and brochures, the fulfillment of plan of the Juan Marinero Printing Office Base Business Unit (UEB) of Guantanamo, belonging to Ediciones Caribe, is underway.

José Antonio Rodríguez Poll, director of the UEB, told the Cuban News Agency that the factory is designed primarily for the printing of books, brochures and notebooks for the educational sector, Sports and the Book Fair.

He stressed that they are currently concentrating on the manufacture of school supplies for the country, including notebooks, textbooks and workbooks.

He said that due to the delay in raw materials due to the country’s economic difficulties, there are delays in the delivery of the notebooks to Education, which has had a boost in the second half of the year with the sustained arrival of resources to guarantee shipments to the territories to which taxes are paid.

The Juan Marinello Printing Office UEB makes school notebooks for five territories: Guantanamo, Santiago de Cuba, Camagüey, Artemisa and Mayabeque, while the books are distributed for the national level of the educational system, Rodríguez Poll added.

He said that the work is carried out in a context of staff reduction (about 140 current workers) due to causes such as aging and retirement, as well as exodus, which is why they have resorted to rehiring and training young workers.
